There has been a political culling and the town has a new Member of Parliament; one who fastidious Town Clerk Mister Tymperleys has the ghastly feeling might actually try and do something. The new MP must therefore be given a graphic lesson in the order of civic precedence by the Mayoral staff...


Meanwhile, during a renovation project, the Director of the Mercury Theatre discovers something odd and unexpected lurking in the bowels of the building; necessitating the hasty dispatch of the ever faithful Miss Abbeygate and Grand Jape Master Respondent; Councillor Timothy St.John Mycroft Young...


Finally, the eternally passed-over Deputy Mayor is sensing blood in the water and makes a desperate bid to end the decade long reign of His Worshipfulness...
